Numbers 4, 5, 6 & Exploring Big vs Small! 🖐️🎈
Welcome, wonderful kindergarten mathematicians! Today, our learning journey takes us into the joyful world of numbers and comparative sizes! We already know how to count 1, 2, and 3, and today we explore three exciting numbers: 4, 5, and 6! We count four wheels on a toy car, five fingers on our open hand, and six colorful balloons floating in the sky! We will also learn how to use a five-frame to show numbers visually, and how to spot the difference between big and small objects around us. A giant elephant is big, while a little mouse is small! Let us count, compare, and celebrate math together!
🖐️ Counting Numbers 4, 5, and 6
Let us count with our fingers and real objects:
- 🚗 Number 4 (Four): 4 wheels on a car, 4 legs on a chair. One more than 3!
- 🖐️ Number 5 (Five): A whole hand of fingers! 5 dots fill a complete five-frame.
- 🎈 Number 6 (Six): One full hand of 5 plus 1 more finger on the second hand (5 + 1 = 6)!
🐘 Big vs. Small Comparisons
Size: We compare objects by the space they occupy:
- 🐘 Big: A giant elephant, an enormous watermelon, a large basketball.
- 🐭 Small: A tiny mouse, a sweet strawberry, a little ping-pong ball.
- 🎯 Five-Frame: We place green dots inside boxes to see quantities without counting one by one!
