2. "Place Value" vs. "Value of a Digit"

Many students confuse these two important concepts. Let's make the difference crystal clear:

1. Place Value (الاسم / المكان)

The NAME of the position

Place Value is written in WORDS. It tells us what room or position the digit lives in.

Examples:
• Ones, Tens, Hundreds
• Thousands, Ten Thousands, Hundred Thousands
• Millions, Ten Millions, Hundred Millions
• Milliards (Billions)
2. Value (القيمة الحسابية / كم يساوي)

The NUMERICAL worth of the digit

Value is written in DIGITS / NUMBERS with zeros according to its position.

Examples for the digit 7:
• In Tens place → Value is 70
• In Thousands place → Value is 7,000
• In Millions place → Value is 7,000,000
• Note: The value of digit 0 in ANY place is always 0!
⚡ The Power of 10 Rule:

As a digit moves one place to the left in the place value chart, its value becomes 10 times greater!
10 tens = 1 hundred (100) 10 hundreds = 1 thousand (1,000) 10 hundred thousands = 1 million (1,000,000) 10 hundred millions = 1 milliard (1,000,000,000)
