Describing Actions: Formation and Use of Regular and Irregular Adverbs of Manner
In this lesson, we master 'Adverbs of Manner' (ظروف الكيفية والحال). While adjectives describe nouns (telling us what kind of person, place, or object something is), adverbs describe verbs — explaining *how* an action is performed. Most adverbs of manner are formed simply by adding '-ly' to an adjective (slow → slowly, careful → carefully). However, we must also pay close attention to spelling transformations (happy → happily) and memorize essential irregular adverbs such as good → well, fast → fast, hard → hard, and late → late. Mastering adverbs allows you to communicate with nuance, precision, and elegance in both speaking and writing.

How to transform adjectives into adverbs of manner:

• Fast: a fast car / drives fast (NOT fastly!).
• Hard: hard work / works hard.
• Late: a late train / arrived late.
• Early: early flight / woke up early. - Warning on 'Hardly' & 'Lately':

• Lately means recently (مؤخراً): I haven't seen him lately.
