Putting Groups Together with the Magic Plus Sign (+) ➕🎈
Hello young mathematicians! Addition means putting two or more groups of things together to find out how many we have in total! If you have 3 red balloons and your friend gives you 2 blue balloons, how many balloons do you have altogether? Let us count them: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5! We use the plus sign (+) to show joining, and the equal sign (=) to show the final answer.
➕ What is Addition?
• Addition: Combining sets to find the total sum.
• Plus Sign (+): Reads 'plus' or 'and'.
• Equal Sign (=): Reads 'is equal to' or 'makes'.
• Example: 4 apples 🍎🍎🍎🍎 + 2 apples 🍎🍎 = 6 apples 🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎!
🚀 Counting On Strategy
To solve 6 + 3: put the larger number (6) in your head, hold up 3 fingers, and count on: 7, 8, 9! The answer is 9! This strategy makes adding fast and fun!
