Taking Away and Learning Subtraction with the Minus Sign (-) ➖🍪
Welcome back, wonderful learners! Today, we learn the opposite of addition: subtraction! Subtraction means taking away or removing items from a group to find out how many are left. Imagine you have 5 delicious cookies on a plate, and you eat 2. How many cookies are left? Let us count: 1, 2, 3 cookies! We use the minus sign (-) to show taking away.
➖ What is Subtraction?
• Subtraction: Taking items away from a whole set.
• Minus Sign (-): Reads 'minus' or 'take away'.
• Difference / Leftover: The number of items remaining.
• Example: 5 balloons 🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈 - 1 pops 🎈 = 4 balloons left!
📉 Counting Back Strategy
